Welcome to Giving Room

Thank you for visiting or coming to join GivingRoom. Most social networking sites are a fantastic way to meet up with friends, share pictures, gossip and have fun- GivingRoom is about the same things except there is one fundamental difference...it is about making change in the world and it is about giving back to those who need our support and help.

GivingRoom is not just about ideas it is about action. Here are a few ways we hope GivingRoom can work:

1) Say for example you are raising money for a charity and want to connect with others around the world who support the same cause and inform people about what you are doing- you can build a networking page within a group or start your own.

2) You know that girl downstairs in marketing who spends her evenings and weekends delivering food to the homeless and convinced her company to allocate internal resources to building out a food delivery program- Her actions have been wonderful, her program amazing...nominate her for the 'Hero of the Month'

3) Are you a charity that is fundraising for an event, gala or running an auction- Use GivingRoom to connect up with more donors and drive more traffic. Use giving room to create an events page for people to buy tickets, share photos and more...or use GivingRoom auctions to sell your auction items or link to eBay auction.

4) Use AddLiveVoice to create a super cool giving page. Use your voice to record a personal message or allow members of your organization to record personal messages....nothing demonstrates emotion like the power of voice....so AddLiveVoice today.

5) Send us your event or tell us about an upcoming auction...maybe it will get profiled on the front page of GivingRoom.com.

These are just a few of our ideas...but we want this site to be yours....to fund raise, to raise awareness, to connect....as long as it is in the name of giving.....we are happy to have you...in the GivingRoom.

About GivingRoom
Giving room was founded by a group of individual philanthropists in recognition of those who have sacrificed so much to help do good: parents, teachers, volunteers, students, business leaders, charities, politicians, our military, lobbyist, corporations and more...For those who have all stood strong to make a change and who recognize that giving back is critical....GivingRoom hopes that everyday another smile is put on someone's face, because some one, somewhere gave back.

"Life is like a pathway of freshly fallen snow...for every step you take...you leave a mark to show" unknown

GivingRoom is your opportunity to make you mark. Welcome and enjoy!

Why do we give?

There are as many motivations for a person’s charitable giving as there are people; giving of your resources and time to help others is one of the most personal acts you can make. But while our giving stories are all unique, they likely share one or more of the following motivations: * To he… Continue

The Technology and Social Change blog (http://sureshfernando.wordpress.com) is focused on developing and argument for, and highlighting examples of, the increasing role that technology (and in particular the internet) will play in making Massive Social Change a possibility.

By Massive Social Change, I am referring to the type of social change that is necessary to create the sorts of consensus that are necessary to begin to address very large global problems such as climate change, poverty, famine, war etc.

These problems are generally considered to be of the sort that we cannot realistically address. It is simply assumed that they are conditions of the human species; that things must be this way.

The argument that I am developing will suggest that it is the Perception of our Differences that results in the heterogeneity and fragmentation that is the source of our inability to solve these sorts of problems.

The Perception of Difference is the result of the fact that the evolution of the human species occurred in a manner that did not allow for communication between disparate groups. Different hunter-gather tribes, for example, evolved without knowledge of each other.

This inability to communicate was the result of geographic dispersion - their relations to each other were non-proximal.

The absence of proximal relations between people say something about the Space that the people inhabit.

My contention is that the nature of Space is changing! The mere fact that I have connected with you is evidence of this.

That the nature of space is changing makes it possible for us to address the proximity issue that gives rise to the patterns of communication that result in the false Perception of Difference.

In resolving this problem, in time, people can come to realize that they are more similar than they think and that creating artificial boundaries that result in conflict and the inability to work collectively on problems of global scope is a false illusion.

If we view things as such we can set the necessary conditions for future generations to truly fix the world!!

Peace and Love,

Suresh Fernando

Yes, that would be great. And yes, I'm on a learning curve with the linking type stuff. Walk me through it? Also, I have a cover page to main website called www.speechgoals.com . I had to get something ready for a televised Healthcare show that we have a spot on this summer. It is to air on CNBC sometime on Sunday afternoon, and is primarily devoted to our speech rehab recordings. I appreciate the help. Scarlet
